Study Title: Executive Cyber Threat Awareness Survey

Study Date: January 2002 Study URL: http://www.cio.com/info/releases/020702_release.html Study Overview: CIO and Darwin magazines' Executive Cyber Threat Awareness Survey was administered online from December 26, 2001, through January 7, 2002. Subscribers to CIO magazine and Darwin magazine were invited to take the survey. The results shown here are based on responses from 707 company officers, vice presidents and directors. The margin of error for the study is +/- 3.7%. Forty-three percent (43%) of the professionals in the survey are business executives (CEO, president, finance, marketing, sales, research), 37% are IT professionals and 20% are "other." In terms of level of responsibility, 40% of survey respondents hold senior executive positions (CEO, CIO, CFO, COO, president/owner) and 17% are vice presidents (including executive VP, senior VP). Slightly less than one quarter (23%) of survey respondents hold director titles and 20% list "other." Ninety-percent (90%) of the executives in the survey are involved in IT strategy for their organization.
