Abstract or Summary:
“How I Met Your Password” is an interactive talk and session around password cracking techniques. Passwords are still getting much notice in the world especially with leaks constantly occurring. As such, people are interested in password cracking. However this session is not a recap of simple Wiki’s on how to crack passwords. It is an in-depth analysis of advanced cracking techniques, methods of cracking difficult and “impossible” passwords as well as how to use the plethora of tools out there to be successful. The target audience is more intermediate than beginner, with attendees needing to already understand what “hashing” is, how some of the algorithms work and also know their way around Linux and tools such as JTR and Hashcat. What we will do is fill the gaps between simple cracking techniques and how to elevate your cracking capabilities to return much higher hit-rates and better results.
